Another option to fill a gap left by a missing tooth is an implant. This is a procedure which we would highly recommend to patients whose situation would enable them to undergo, as it results in an artificial tooth which closely represents that of a natural tooth. An implant comprises of a metal root which is surgically placed in the jawbone, and a crown which is attached using an abutment.
The crown is made of porcelain to ensure strength and an exact colour match to the natural teeth. Implants are safe, comfortable and secure, and blend in perfectly with the natural teeth. Provided they are hygienically maintained, they can last a lifetime.
Although we don’t fit the actual implant at our surgery, we partake in the procedure at certain stages and can refer our patients to a reputable and highly qualified periodontist.
